Employment, Academic, and Professional Updates

It has been a while since an update was posted on this website; having been busy with home construction, work, and accomplishing several major milestones, I finally have a moment to breathe. After graduating and working for my previous employer, ABB, I received an offer from CMU I could not turn down. By moving to the university, it would give me the opportunity to achieve one lifelong goal: receive my masters from the world-renowned Carnegie Mellon University. After moving to Pittsburgh, it took less than a year to migrate from the help-desk to where I am now, working as one of two Information Security Analysts. With the GRE completed, and three non-degree courses under my belt, the master’s program application process has begun. I have updated this website and LinkedIn with my latest information, CV, and Resume. Be sure to check it out! To read the full update, click "Read More" below.

Over the last year and a half, I have been renovating my home. This has been a truly invigorating and exciting experience, and I encourage everyone to check out the blog posts I have been publishing using the link above in the event update section by clicking here to read more! Following graduation from Allegheny College, I had applied to work at several different companies. I began working for ABB as a Technical Professional Business Process Analyst and picked up where my previous internships left off. I took ownership of the previously renovated server infrastructure, maintained shop computing environment, several core pieces of critical proprietary software, assisted with day to day IT operations, and most notable, began the process of drafting a migration path to SAP from their existing systems. After working at ABB for a short time, I received an offer I could not turn down --returning to work at CMU with the opportunity to go back to school. This being my lifelong dream, I moved to Pittsburgh and began the journey to where I am today.

After less than a year working as a User Services Associate for the CMU SEI, I was promoted to a new position, pointing me down the path I envisioned myself following long-term. I now work as an Information Security Analyst, monitoring, securing, implementing network defense systems, and advising on security policies when required. I have taken several courses at CMU over the last year and have now completed the GRE, preparing me to apply for the Heinz College Masters of Information Technology Management program. I am hoping to hear back shortly and report good news, attending my first official masters classes in August 2018. I have updated my CV and Resume to reflect the huge changes that have taken place over the last two years and hope things keep moving forward as they have thus far!
